I hold an MA in Art History and an MFA in Photography and Drawing. Although no longer involved in photography I have shown photographs at the Everson Museum in Syracuse and taken first place for photography at the Central New York Art Open.
My main interest now is drawing in black and white and in color. I have always had a penchant for drawing, especially people. My work is figurative, yet not totally realistic. It is a style not altogether ‘real’ and not quite ‘surreal’, perhaps somewhat impressionistic. My work has been very influenced by a life of early constant travel as the daughter of a career Navy man. This constant travel led to having no “home town” feeling and attending eight different schools before high school. It was a very peripatetic life. And my art showed it as shadows, isolation, barren landscapes became some of my personal symbols. Growth and memories of times past are evoked by inanimate objects, which have a bittersweet presence. Sunny imagery paradoxically envelops an image, waiting for life to happen,
The media is continuing to evolve as charcoal, oil based stixs, and water based ink are incorporated.
I have exhibited drawings at many venues and galleries including the Memorial Art Gallery in Rochester, NY, Justin Osteen Gallery in NYC, Agora Gallery in NYC, The First Street Gallery in NYC and the Mystic Arts Center, Mystic, CN and been the recipient of awards at the 33rd Bradley Print & Drawing Exhibition, the 29th International Drawing & Print Competitive Exhibition at Gormley Gallery, Notre Dame of Maryland University and the 2020 American Art Awards (competing with artists from 62 countries) to name a few. For a complete list please go to the Resume page.
My work has also been featured in Along magazine and Lake Affect magazine and is in many private collections.
My art business has been designated as a "Trusted Art Seller" with The Art Storefronts Organization, which means you can shop with confidence, and know that I stand behind the quality and value of my products.
